A great day at The Portland Inn Project today as we had a team briefing on the green going over our summer programme - we are looking forward to learning new skills, printmaking, designing a textile for our building, trips, sports and some really delicious food from @theslamwichclub and even a pop up restaurant with @nowtprint - it’s going to be a good one! Also today @kavita.bp continued with some interviews with neighbours to understand more about how we organise together. Summer Programme Drop coming soon!

We are delighted to welcome Graham Martin to our team! It’s great that our small team is growing, and Graham will be our Finance and Admin Assistant, which is a new role for the organisation. Graham joins us with a wealth of experience and we’re excited to have him with us in preparation for managing our new building, as well as the responsibilities required for the smooth running of our organisation.
Graham says ‘I’m so excited to be joining the Portland Inn Project as the Finance and Admin Assistant.
I have over 30 years experience as a chartered accountant helping all sorts of businesses keep their numbers on track. I’m passionate about the arts and enjoy going to galleries, music gigs, and other live performances. In my spare time I love playing guitar, keeping fit, making Komboucha and growing vegetables. I’m really looking forward to being part of this exciting and valuable community arts project.’ ✨🌞🌻✊🌱

🌿🐝 On Saturday at Gardening Club, Deb Rogers

🌿🐝 On Saturday at Gardening Club, Deb Rogers @msdmeanar and Anna Maluk @heritage_llama had a wonderful time helping children from the neighbourhood create their very own Air Bee & Bee's (AKA Bug Hotels) to go in the beds alongside The Pippin.

Using sturdy sticks and string, everyone built triangular frames before filling them with natural materials collected from around the green space, including leaves, weeds, grass and pine cones.

The Air Bee & Bee's will provide a safe haven for insects and help support local biodiversity.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and got involved. Especially to those who helped with litter picking ahead of the session. It was a fantastic afternoon of creativity, learning, and connecting with nature! 🌼🪲

We were pleased to attend the @vastvolunteering Co

We were pleased to attend the @vastvolunteering Community Health Champions summer celebration today - @rebeccamariadavies and @annafrancisart shared our Community Health Impact Assessment project which we are so pleased to be continuing to develop. This year our focus is on understanding more about air quality in the neighbourhood and starting to explore the impact that bad landlords can have on neighbourhood health. We were joined by Community Health Champions from across the city and it was great to hear about the work people are doing. We will be sharing more about our health impacts project soon - we are looking forward to working with @thecentriclab as part of their Air Is Kin academy and @home_energy_action_lab who will be coming to the street later in the year to help us think about indoor air quality in our homes and loving our continuing work with @kavita.bp to explore what makes our neighbourhood special and also what can make it a challenging place to live at times.
